I was praying this week about our group and the reasons we all do what we do. Bear with me, I am getting somewhere. We all have a variety of reasons to do what we do. We go to school because the state says we have to. Maybe a few go because they want to, but the mandate is in place. There's not much we can do. We spend time at work because that's what we do to make money. You can't function productively in society without money, therefore you need a job. Another thing you have to do is go to church. Although this one is a touchy subject, I belive that it's true across the board. People are innately selfish creatures. We all are. We buy what we want, go where we want and do what we want. But when it comes to some of the things listed above, things we HAVE to do, our hearts may not be in it.
I encourage you this week to spend some time reflecting on what it is you truly want. God desires us to come to Him with open hearts, ready and willing to worship Him. The Bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people. Keep this in mind as you go about doing the things you may not want to do, but have to. If you worship God in everthing you do, giving Him honor, you may find that school becomes a chance to reach out, that work becomes an act of worship and church becomes a place of refuge. Approach your life with a full and open heart and God will bless you in ways you can't even imagine.
Wait and see what He has in store for you!

Come on, that's good stuff:) Looking forward to hearing about all the great stuff you and your young people are doing for Jesus on the West Coast. By the way, it's REALLY cold here, and it's not there....just had to point that out. If anyone else reads this, this is Ken's brother Tim from upstate NY. Ken's cool. And so is Mel:)
