Good day Thrivers,
As I have prayed this week some things have come to my attention. I am now officially busy! If I wasn't before, I certainly am now! This month has been such a windfall of activity and new responsibility I haven't had much of a chance to reflect. As I thought about what to write I was inspired by the thought that, in all this transition God is still on the throne. He didn't step down and hide from my numerous prayers in this time. He has been a constant companion through everything. I find that I have peace at work when things are at their busiest. (I'm a membership specialist at a gym.) Most of all, He'll listen. If I need to vent during a particularly stressful part of the day, He listens. And I always come out feeling refreshed and ready for the next slew of problems and obstacles to come my way.
I encourage you all this week to rest on the fact that God's got your back. Whatever, whenever. Come to Him with everything. Be open with Him. The Bible tells us that if we draw close to Him, He'll draw close to us. Besides, He's there all the time anyways!
God bless you all in your finals. Mel and I believe God will bless you in all the things you set your hand (and mind) to! Don't forget to use the calendar to see upcoming events and activities, and make sure you come this Sunday to service as we have some exciting announcements to make!
Love and Peace,
Ken and Mel

The Upcoming Week
I was praying this week about our group and the reasons we all do what we do. Bear with me, I am getting somewhere. We all have a variety of reasons to do what we do. We go to school because the state says we have to. Maybe a few go because they want to, but the mandate is in place. There's not much we can do. We spend time at work because that's what we do to make money. You can't function productively in society without money, therefore you need a job. Another thing you have to do is go to church. Although this one is a touchy subject, I belive that it's true across the board. People are innately selfish creatures. We all are. We buy what we want, go where we want and do what we want. But when it comes to some of the things listed above, things we HAVE to do, our hearts may not be in it.
I encourage you this week to spend some time reflecting on what it is you truly want. God desires us to come to Him with open hearts, ready and willing to worship Him. The Bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people. Keep this in mind as you go about doing the things you may not want to do, but have to. If you worship God in everthing you do, giving Him honor, you may find that school becomes a chance to reach out, that work becomes an act of worship and church becomes a place of refuge. Approach your life with a full and open heart and God will bless you in ways you can't even imagine.
Wait and see what He has in store for you!
Love and Blessings,
Ken and Mel

First of many to come!
Howdy all,
Welcome to the THRIVE blog! Melanie and I will be posting a weekly message detailing the status of the group as well as keeping everyone posted on upcoming events. I'll do my best to keep the posts updated and current. We're going to impact our community and our world for Christ! I'd like to give you a scripture to meditate on:
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
This is your time, so take some ground for Christ!
Peace and Love,
Pastors Ken and Melanie
